A Sense of Community
Our Peterborough instructors are highly-respected throughout the Kawarthas and beyond. They will warmly welcome you into our studio. And once you are on your mat, you will find a sense of community practicing with others in a unique place of harmony and beauty.
You can review the Fitness Waiver Form. We ask you complete one before your first yoga or fitness class at Euphoria.
Preparing for a Fitness Class at Euphoria:
- For your first class, please bring the completed Fitness Waiver with you. If you can’t complete it online, then you can fill out a form at Euphoria before you begin class. Please just leave an extra 15 minutes to do so.
- Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. If you don’t have a yoga mat, you can rent one at Euphoria. You should also bring a water bottle and wear comfortable yoga clothing.
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled class. This will give you time to get settled and use the change room. You can relax before class in the yoga lounge outside the studio.
- Since yoga is a practice that requires focus, late arrivals cannot be permitted.
If You Can’t Make A Class
To secure a spot for a preferred class, we suggest you sign up a week in advance using our online.
Since classes have a set number of spots available, we ask that you make cancellations to any class at least two hours in advance. Cancel online or by calling us. Cancellations in less than two hours of class time will result in a charge to your credit card on file, or a deduction from your class series.
The Benefits of Yoga
Yoga is more than a practice. It’s a blend of physical exercise, psychological insight, and philosophy. It will help to bring your body, mind, and spirit into better balance.
Once you get started, it’s easy to make yoga part of your wellness routine. Whether you are just starting with beginner yoga, or are an advanced practitioner, we have a class to shape your own personal practice.
What is “Savasana”?
This Sanskrit word, also spelled “Shavasana” or “Shivasana” means “corpse pose”. Savasna is a form of relaxed meditation that ends every yoga practice. You will also typically assume this simple pose before a yoga class. To get into this pose, you will lie on your back, arms and legs spread at 45 degrees. Your eyes will be closed and your breathing will be long and deep. Your entire body will feel relaxed and grounded.
What does “Namaste” mean?
Namaste is an ancient Sanskrit greeting used in India today. Roughly translated, it means “The Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you.” This word seals each yoga practice. Namaste will be said by your yoga instructor at the end of your yoga practice. You can then repeat this word back in turn.
Three Yoga Resting Poses
If you are starting out with yoga, here are three fundamental yoga postures you can review. These poses or asanas will be part of your yoga practice at Euphoria Wellness Spa.
Table Top:
This is a very grounding yoga pose. You simply come to your mat on your hands and knees. Your back is flat and the crown of your head in directed towards a front wall to lengthen the spine. Table top or “table” is the starting point and transition pose for many floor postures. It helps lengthen and realign the spine.
Downward Dog:
This pose resembles that of dog stretching, and is also known as “Downward-Facing Dog” or “Down Dog.” It’s also one of the traditional postures in the Sun Salutation sequence. This is a resting pose in yoga, although it does require practice to build strength in the wrists and arms. It’s a place you can come to after a series of flows, or to work on your breathing.
Child’s Pose:
This is a resting pose that brings a sense of calm. You can assume this pose at any time during your practice if you feel you want to take time out to be still. It’s also a wonderful counter-pose to back bends or core work. This pose helps to stretch the ankles, thighs, hips and knees. It releases back and neck tension. It also helps with stress and fatigue.
With the addition of our unique, eastern-inspired studio, Peterborough fitness classes just got more interesting. We welcome you to try an exciting, new Peterborough wellness experience FREE* at Euphoria.
